Building Healthy Communities (BHC) is focused on place because it is the environments in which we grow up, are educated, and work that determine our health outcomes. It is also where individuals find deep purpose and a sense of belonging. Strong communities are characterized by strong and dense relationship networks. These communities are resilient and can help protect individuals from adversity. So while adverse community conditions are the product of policy and politics, building power in place is key to creating strong and resilient communities that can protect residents and drive policy change today and beyond.
Transformative and sustained change takes power, youth leadership, strong partnerships, and a compelling new story about how health happens—or should happen—in all communities.Together, we can change the odds in our communities and create #Health4All. Below are the missions in action that are bringing changes to the 14 places.
