As you may have just heard, our beloved colleague Bea Solis passed away on March 20, 2020 at 4am after a long battle with cancer. This loss is devastating. Losing Bea is like losing a sister. She is that smarter, better part of you that showed you how to work hard, and understand and anticipate the overt and subtle political dynamics of an institution and a community. Who taught you how to act strategically and with a higher purpose focused on the long game. Who laughed hard, fought righteously, and dreamed big. Through knowing Bea, we know what a better person looks like, acts like, and is….. Bea Solis will be remembered for the beautiful example she set for all of us at TCE and with so many of our partners in the state of how to translate love into justice. We are all profoundly changed for having known her. She lives on in our work and in all of our hearts. We will find a way to pay tribute to her.
Our deepest condolences have been passed to her husband Mohammad, and her two precious sons, Avrin and Aydin. No services have been announced yet. Due to coronavirus, it may not be possible to have an in-person gathering. We will share that information when we have it.
In lieu of flowers Bea wanted donations to be sent to: www.godiscoverylab.com.
